Funny ?

At least you don't come across many of those in the UK.

My stories tend to be of things that go wrong when travelling.

The twin-engined flight from Basle to Eindhoven with one engine coughing, the hostess on hands and knees to distribute the sandwiches and landing sideways in a strong crosswind.

Or spending Christmas eve sleeping on the floor of terminal one because 2 inches of snow had shut down London.

Or having to spend three days by the swimming pool of a luxury hotel in Niger because a politician had preempted our flight out.

Or taking senior managers to the really deepest levels of a very wet, very muddy mine to teach them safety auditing.

My word, but it's a fun job.

Hope that 'gaffer' tape holds! Has that lady got toe protectors on?

What I find funny is the way workers put on their hard hats safety specs etc. when they see you coming and you can obviously see them doing it because they are doing it as you have eye contact with them. Or the one where they turn away and then turn around with safety specs on 'magic'. It's just like Groundhog day. It's like you're the PPE or Safety police - will they ever learn and put us out of job?

Being told that I can't have the filing cabinet behind me because H&S manager had banned it. "Oh, really?..."

Hi
I was having a tour around a construction site for a new-build factory a few years back. The Site Manager went to great lengths to explain how much edge protection they had on site and how many ladders they had purchased to ensure safe access and egress. As he was doing this with a three storey building behind him, somebody took a running jump off the first floor slab using the pile of sand below to land in.

Morning

Talking about funny, when i worked on the tools a few years back our foreman tried to get us to work in the snow, we told him it was too dangerous to which he rang the safety advisor to come down and let us know it was safe to work. When walking to our cabin the safety man stood awkwardly in a hole which he couldn't see because of the snow and broke his ankle, half an hour later we were on our way home with full pay. Classic
