Does anybody know how to work out the SWL for wareheouse racking? The racking in question has been bought second hand and the manufacturer is unknown.

Any help will be graetfully received

In all honesty, in the absence of any other posts, I'd get a racking provider in and pay up. That being said, I'd want to know what type of racking it was ie is it 'shelving' or 30m high narrow aisle stuff? There's racking and then there's racking. If it's a really significant bit of Meccano, then you really need a condition report plus you need it putting together properly. If it's not much more than shelving, then it's not a major issue.

Agree with the previous response. I would strongly recommend that you engage the services of a competent person who can accurately calculate the SWL for you. You must ensure that it's properly examined, the SWL calculated and then marked on the racking and a system of work put in place to prevent overloading. I would also ask the competent person for a report demonstrating the tests they applied and how they arrived at the SWL. Might sound onerous, but well worth it when you consider the possible consequences of an overload and collapse situation.
