We are currently involved in the renovation of a large warehouse complex.
To-day I came across the following line which caused me to pause.

FIRE
Non domestic maximum unsprinklered size for single storey warehouse.

Anyone got a handle on this, just in case I need to be doing something more than exercising my curiosity....

The issue of fitting sprinklers is generally an issue between you, your insurers and the outcome of your fire risk assessment..... unless you live in Berkshire or Hampshire!

The Berkshire Act 1986 actually requires sprinklers to be fitted in large storage warehouses, and they do apply it! I am currently involved in a discussion with them because they want us to retro fit sprinklers into a warehouse, but on the other side of the M25 they are not required!

I suggest you check with your local authority what, if any fire precautions apply over and above the normal building regulations, particularly any local acts. This is complex, I suggest you involve your insurers.

Where are you located?

Paul
