CITB have set up a "passport" scheme for contractors to access construction sites which a lot of major builders are taking-up... sounds good ! But, has any noble health & safety bod out there actually been able to get one via the "Professional Qualified Persons" route; having passed the compulsory construction style health & safety questions ok, I cannot "seemingly" progress as I, as a Chartered MIOSH person haven't got an NVQ and .... by the way IOSH isn't an affiliate memeber of the CITB scheme ....HELPful advice requested before a go jobless !

You're not alone. The easiest solution is to apply for a "visitors card". I know it's not really in the spirit of the scheme, but it will get you on site. Most sites (unnoficially) aren't that bothered about what card you have, as long as you've got one.

I hope this helps.

John,

This issue has been extensively discussed on the Members Forum.

Have a look there.

I know it probably does not help but the only other way to get a CSCS safety Officers card is via the NEBOSH construction Cert as far as i know the Safety managers Card can only be achieved via NVQ 4 or 5

You can get a regular visitors card (yellow) or a general site operatives card by just taking the health and safety test
