Posted By Nicholas Morris We have a number of batteries that require regular cleaning and would welcome your views on which method is the better option:
1) Brush and elbow grease
2) Use of airline and appropriate PPE
Thanks

Posted By Innes Gray Got a few questions here before we go anywhere
? why the need to clean the battery's
Are the outer casings dry or wet that your are trying to clean.
I can supply a foam cleaning product that nulifys acid and changes colour to indicate that taking place.
But i need more information before i can give you any advice, as it sound to me that there is a problem that needs to be addressed with regard the need to clean.
If you want give me a call on 07786278375

Posted By Merv Newman FLT batteries do get a but scruffy after a while. I recommend brushing down with a dustpan-and-brush.
Never ever use an airline for blowing down. The crap goes straight into your eyes. Which could include residues from the white stuff which often accumulates around batteries (what IS that white stuff ?)(H2So4 + H2O = ?)

Posted By Nicholas Morris Outer casings are dry- its generally the tops of the batteries that need cleaning. Its dust and general debris- the trucks are in use 16 hrs a day, each truck has a stand-by battery which stands on a roller bed or similar storage. Each battery probably only needs cleaning a couple of times a year, but there's quite a few to do.

Posted By Philip Beale Look at using the foam spray. but don't use a dustpan and brush which will pick up the acid from the top of the batteries. Gloves tissue and foam spray should do the job.

Posted By Eric Taylor Or try puting a polythene sheet over the top of them? If it gets too dirty, dust it, wash it or change it. Just make sure it's not sealed too well round the edges to let out any hydrogen that evolved during use or charging.
