Posted By Martin Taylor It has been suggested today that Forklift Mancages have been banned and that HSE have guidance supporting this.
Apparently there is a web site covering this but I haven't been shown it yet.
Anybody know if this is valid or another myth that is being pedalled
I operate a man cage with all of the requisite safety features and safe systems of work so this would be a blow to say the least
thanks
Martin

Posted By The toecap Its gotta be a myth. There are certain circumstances where other forms of access would be completely impracticable

My problem is that I cannot think of a situation where a purpose built MEWP could not replace FLT+cage.

Posted By David Whaley Martin,
They have not been baned! read PM28 available as a free download form the HSE web site.
Should only be used for occasional work. If it turns out you are using them on a regular basis the HSE would advise either MEWP or an integrated platform. Although the preference is for MEWPs and there are not many manufacturers providing integrated platforms.
