im seeking to promote a safe and healthy working environment in my workplace (office environment). A mammoth task i know but I was thinking of campaigns, posters and raising awareness that way - however, if anyone has any inventive ideas that are different from the norm, i would be extremely grateful if you could share them with me.

thanks a lot!

Hi,

One thing my old company did was to hold a safety day and to invite all the PPE providers and any companies that have anything to do with safety equipment to attend the company for the day and let the employees walk round and gather information on issues. They included drugs, alcohol, reflexology, self defence, work at height etc.
It was seen as an eye opener and very positive response, the suppliers were also happy to do this.

good luck.

Welsh,

A rather simple, but in my opinion effective campaign could focus on the positive. For example, highlight all the good things you are currently doing to reduce risk and personalise the measures by acknowledging all those who have had a role in recognising the problem, correcting the problem and so on.

I find that positive H&S propaganda is generally better received as opposed to the negative in office or similar environments.

Regards

You could do a lot worse than look at the European H&S Agency website (via Google). They provide materials each year for European Safety Week (usually in late October). They allow free downloads and this year the topic being promoted is musculoskeletal disorders - particularly from working with computers, lifting and carrying loads and adopting awkward postures.
I'm planning some road-shows on this theme to take out to the departments of my company. Happy to discuss further, should you wish
