Suggest you obtain a sample JD from your company to compare. Ideally your JD should be a summary of your role and responsibilities, including who you may delegate and report to.

How about "aiding and abetting management in THEIR implementation of company Health, environmental, Quality and safety policies"

And "being so busy that I never have time for any of the other stuff you throw at me"

That should cover it.

In fact, if you do try to list all of the manifold QHSE jobs you should be doing then DO NOT list anything else that you feel is extraneous.

But you should look up "abetting"

The fact that management are asking you to write your own JD.

What does this say about the culture in the first place?

Probably haven't a clue what they want

If you contact me off forum, I can give you some examples of JD's

How about using the "Role & Functions of H&S Advisors"" Inset 9 from HSG65 as a starting point.

Don't forget to include the "Keep Directors and Senior Managers Out of Jail, wearing handcuffs" card!! Needs to be part of your work remit.

Tends to focus them on why they employed you as well !
