Advice required.....When working on a Pet-Chem, or any other plant, what would be the required minimum lighting levels (LUx)?

Cheers

No takers.....I'm surprised.

Guidance suggests 'provide sufficient lighting'.

We know, of course that all lighting requirements are task specific. But, again, is there a suggested minimum???

Antony,

From what I have found lighting levels need to be 300 - 500 lux.

As mentioned task lighting may be required for certain jobs.

This should give you a starting point

have a look at CIBSE code for lighting it is very specific

Remote-operated processing installations 50lux

Processing with limited manual intervention 150lux

Constantly manned work places in processing 300
Precision measuring rooms, laboratories 500
PharmaceuticaI production 500
Tyre production 500
Colour inspection 1000
Cutting, finishing and inspection
installations 500

The above is listed as for Chemical, plastics and rubber industry.

Also if you look Up the Warehouse Guidance there is a generic table in there

Tony

If the place is constantly manned process area the min is 150-300 lux depending on what they are doing (300 is they are more detailed tasks). 50 is for a remote process with few, infrequent human interventions
