Can any one help with some references, and hopefully links to research on optimal grip diameters. I can only find two, (Imrhan, 1999)and (Yong-Ku Kong, 2004), and these seem to have 2 different opinions. This is for a research paper on the ergonomics of window cleaning equipment

Wayne,

Try these for size;

Bodyspace. 3rd Edn. Pheasant P., Haselgrove C.M., Chapter 6

The ergonomics of workspaces and machines. A design manual. 2nd Edn. Corlett E.N., Clerk T.S.

Since you refer to a research paper, it's worth checking these:

'Occupational Biomechanics', Chaffin and others, John Wiley, 4th edition, 2006

chapter 10 in 'Working Postures and Movements. Tools for Evaluation and Engineering', Delleman, Haslegrave and Chaffin, CRC Press, 2004

'The rules of Work. A Practical Engineering Guide to Ergonomics'. D MacLeod. Taylor & Francis. 1999
