Hello Michael, I'm sure you are aware of this but just a reminder. Self assessment is no substitution for a full asessment, although self assessment is OK you need to remeber where any problem is identified by the user you will need to follow this up with a full assessment.

HI Bob

Yes i'm well aware of this. We have just moved 1200 people into a new building and with 2 Assessors in the firm we have our work cut out for us!

cheers

Hi Michael

With such a large number of staff, have you thought about using a software program to filter out who needs visiting first? In a similar position, I used a system from Posturite which covered the initial 'education' issue and ended with a self-assessment which our DSE Assessors could then use to determine who needed urgent attention (we used factors such as (a) already experiencing RSI/WRULD (b) questions indicated high typing loads etc.)

Regards

Kevin

Hi mate, use the questionnaire straight out of the DSE regs, i find that one as good as any you'll come across.

Hello Michael
I did it in three stages first of all I sent out a global form called an "Assessment of user status" this asked seven questions including "Do you depend on DSE to do your job ?" "Do you use DSE continuously for spells of an hour or more ?" I felt this first stage saved a lot of unnecessary work.
The returns were sifted depending on where the majority of "yes" or "no" answers fell, the no's were just kept on file but self assessment forms were sent out to the "yes" people.
If their self assessment forms indicated any problems a DSE asessor was sent out to complete the job,

Rob.
