Posted By Mark Mace Hi Merv,
Very interesting point towards the end of the article concerning switching off power lines.
I would be interested if anyone has been able to contact the correct department.
I have a substation on our site, and without mentioning the relevant company, have never been able to get a response to my many emails and phone calls.
Reason for needing contact was emergency planning in the event of a fire in the substation itself.
Regards
Tony

Posted By Merv Newman Tony, I know it may seem a waste of time (to you and them) as you are "only planning for possible emergencies" but maybe a personal visit to your supplier's offices could help ?
Then again, services (gas, water, electricity) usually have an emergency contact number which could result in action within, at least, the next 24 hours. Rather like an internet hotline.
Then again, again, take it into account in your planning. What do you do if you can't get the supply cut off ? Personally I would rely on the Fire Brigade who seem to have all sorts of wonderful powers in the event of a fire or other emergency.
Oh ! those fantastic helmets ! And those axes ! And those great big boots !
You could go all quivery ! (just don't mention step ladders)
