Hello,

I have been asked to produce a risk assessment for our site security guard. The security guard works alone at night on a large construction site situated in a rural area.

I would be grateful if anyone could provide me with some pointers on how to tackle the assessment, or if anyone has a similar assessment they could pass on to me this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Claire

Firstly you need to understand the tasks required of him/her. Look at the requirement for Lone Working, what controls are presently in place. what exactly is he/she guarding and what is the potential for violence etc should someone decide to break in.... what are the procedures to control/prevent this. How near is the hospital/emergency services. Is someone contacting the lone worker to ensure they are ok.
sit down with them/line manager and the job description and between you all you should be able to do a comprehensive assessment that they will work with.
Good luck
