Posted By Richard_Sams Hi does anyone have, or have a link to, a chart/table displaying items of plant commonly found on construction sites and:
- the approximate durations for which these can be used before the 1st & 2nd action levels are reached by the user.
- the approximate dB(A)at given distances from the noise source.
Regards
Richard

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Richard, it's not quite that clean cut to noise assess machinery or plant equipment in work areas.
The figures that you are looking at would probably be available from manufacturers' documentation, but this does not take into regard the use of other equipment in close proximity to that being assessed.
You are asking here for generic best practice noise assessment figures in isolation not in real work use circumstances.
These circumstances have to be taken into account when transient noise is detected alongside the actual machine or tool being tested for noise emissions.

Posted By Smurfer BS 5228 Part 1 1997 might be of some interest to you. Although I don't advise using this data for an occupational noise assessment.
