I am currently in the process of writing a procedure on Young Persons and wondered whether any of you kind folks had already gone through this exercise and wouldn't mind e-mailing me a copy or pointing me in the direction of a good source of information.

Kind Regards

What kind of environment is the procedure for, we cover it in our risk assessments and it is also refered to in our policy document but no procedure. We cover activities from insulation to office work and social care using around 10 separate risk assessments which are reviewed prior to young persons being inducted on-site.

Thanks Bob,

I currently work in the NHS and we are producing a new Health and Safety Manual and part of this to to re write the polices and procedures, to allow for the former hospital and community divisions to be brought together as a single system. We used to call these documents arrangements but agreement has been made to call them all procedures now.

I work in an educational establishment and much of my time is spent specifically on young persons assessments. As has already been mentioned, it would be helpful to know exactly which procedure you are dealing with. You can also find an awful lot of useful info on the Learning Skills Council (LSC) website.

I'd agree with Lee on that point just close your eyes when you look at the front cover of their wee handbook, not too smart with regard to work at height!

You could try the HMIE site or alternatively irritate your boss so much she gives you an old council HSW Standard to base it on!
