Get yourself a copy of HS/G37. When you have read this, then you might find it helpful to contact a qualified occupational hygienist who specialises in this asepct of exposure control. (If you don't know of anyone the British Occupational Hygiene Society can point you in the right direction)
Designing dust extraction is not as simple as you might assume. Many of the systems that I see, sometimes involving large sums of capital expenditure, simply do not work (and could never have worked). It will need a careful examination of the actual workplace, identifying where and how the dust is being produced (e.g. volume, dynamics, particle size and mass etc.). Only then can you start to decide how best to contain and extract it.

I would suggest you don't decide, call in the experts and let them do what they are good at measure the levels and design a suitable system. If your struggling for contacts on extract systems email me direct.

I don't know if this helps: The old Textured Jersey circular knitting factory in Leicester, now closed like most others, used to use a series of roof mounted blower fans which were controlled to regularly move around and blow lint off the steelwork and surrounding structure. Once in the air, the lint was extracted by wall-mounted extractor fans. This was largely done to address fire risk issues and was bought along with the machinery by my client who has it installed in his factory. It seems to work well.
With circular knitting lint tends to be blown off the yarn by rotating blower fans and collects on surrounding structures.
