Posted By Sean Warburton Hi all,
Looking to set up some occ health monitoring programs for out FLT,HGV & possibly company car drivers. Is there any statutes which govern this in relation to HGV drivers?. I know about the requirements under regulation 6 of the management regs which could cover all the above. Or is it simply down to our own risk assessments?

Posted By Debbie S When a driver reaches 45 years old the HGV entitlement of his/her licence is the subject to renewal every 5 years and every year from 65 onwards. Medical reports are required with each renewal from the age of 45 - all our driveres use their own GP for this medical.

Posted By Debbie S Its DVLA as far as I'm aware - they send out a letter to the licence holder informing them that they need a medical to retain their HGV entitlement - once a medical report has been done and returned they then make a decision write to advise you of any changes - e.g.if someone has been identified as having high blood pressure they may well ask that a medical is re-done every 2 / 3 years instead of the 5.
Our drivers have to provide copies of the DVLA letter for their personnel files so that we can ensure that their HGV entitlement hasn't been revoked.
