Posted By Scott d Hi All, I would like to prepare a toolbox talk on handling a wide range of chemicals. Employees are fully trained on the hazards of the wide range of chemicals which we use (in very low quantities) and control measures etc. I want to focus more on practical issues during this talk, such as removing PPE and preventing contact with the skin. I am particularly interested if anybody has any ideas on effective methods of encouraging employees not to touch their face or skin whilst handling chemicals. I am talking about the likes of 'automatic' reactions to an itch or simlilar. Your ideas would be much appreciated.

Posted By Jane Blunt I haven't got the answer to stopping people from absent minded actions like touching their faces. I do have a good idea for training people to remove gloves correctly. Put some very cheap jam in a bowl. Invite people to put their gloved hands in the jam and spread it around their gloves. Then ask them to remove their gloves without getting any jam on themselves. It's fun, and it gets the point across. Jane
