In our factory we have an area where fork lift trucks operate. The area is also the only access to the toilets, showers and locker rooms. So all employees walk through the area when coming to work and first go to their lockers to get changed and when they need to visit the washrooms.
I want to segregate pedestrians and trucks, but this can only be done by installing a spiral staircase near the pedestrian door, so eliminating the need to walk through the area. There is no space to put a conventional staircase.
Are spiral staircases permitted in the factory environment and as a fire escape route.

Permitted, Yes, and there are standards for these things - but not usually considered acceptable for means of escape. An assessment is needed taking all local factors into account.
