Hi,

What sort of guidance? Are you after guidance on controlling them, or identifying them, or training staff in their use, or all of the above? It would be helpful to have an idea of what the substances are, and the sort of quantities you're talking about.

The HSE website (www.hse.gov.uk) has some good guidance about managing substances, so might be a useful place for you to start,

It is a sample COSHH risk assessment that I am looking for. I don't know the quanities of substances yet but am looking for a sample assessment for handling, use and storage of hazardous substances if any of you can help.

You really need to give more details of how it is being used, in what form, quantities etc and also how people are being exposed. From this you can produce a COSHH assessment.

The real;ity is that you could not have a generic COSHH assessment for a substance, as the criteria above will be different.

and the COSHH essentials website has some excellent examples of how to complete a COSHH assessment.

Using one already completed for the same substance is not advisable as you may be using it in a different way, resulting in different exposure routes and levels requiring different controls etc...
