I am presently reviewing method statements and risk assessments of scaffolding company's who are all tendering for a mill demolition job in Bolton.
Can anyone aim me in the direction of a good method statement and risk assessment so that I can compare what I am being offered to what I should expect?
Thanks

Go to the CHAS website and review some of the scaffolding companies who have been found competent on there.

What is your role? CDMC etc
After recently investigating a scaffold collapse my advice is to ensure competence re such areas, as a scaffold re demolition can be very different to a scaffold in a new build situation
The advice re CHAS was good however the risk assessments etc may be for very different types of work but the style, layout and contents may be helpful
Discover who is the competent person re H&safety for the scaffold company

You should provide a speccification as per EN 12810.
The Method statement is definded by EN 12811.

Thanks for the advice, but i do not need any more scaffolding companies as I already have four. Each one of them has given a method statement with their tender and I was wondering if anyone could aim me in the direction of a scaffolding company where I can look at their information and compare it with what I have been given?

Generally, look at rescue for works at height. Consider, CISRS cards or similar. This type of work is high acitivity. Carry out a competence check of the company if not already done so.

If you're after some advice on how to QA risk assessments simply (not how to write them) - say as a lay person in the subject about which the assessment is written, try this.
Does the assessment paint a picture in words of the undertaking?
Are you wiser after having read it?
Does it identify what could go wrong?
Does it state how this will be avoided?
Does it say what action will be taken if it does go wrong?
Is there systematic approach to the identification of the activities being performed or is it a random collection of hazards?
Does it directly reflect the contract that you have engaged them to do or has your company name been crayoned in?
Is there an explanation of the methodology used to perform the assessment?
Are the controls measures mentioned very general or very specific 'eg all ppe to be worn' or helmets will be worn at all times and enforced by site supervision'
Does it make any sense?
And lastly, do you believe it?
