Posted By Roger Russell Good evening, the above is an outline of a question I have to do for management training. I am fairly new to the field and I am battling through H&S legal 'stuff' at the moment. Any help on which direction to go in to answer the above would be very gratefully accepted. The world of health and safety looks so interesting, cant wait to put all the theory into practise

Posted By Pat Hannaway Hi Roger, for a quick overview of responsibilities and basic advice, I suggest that you visit the HSE website www.hse.gov.uk and go to their "publications" section. There is a leaflet (free to download) titled INDG 368 Use of contractors. It is a good starting point. There is a more detailed book (58 pages) called Managing Contractors (also from HSE)but it cost £8.50. If you intend to regularly use contractors, I recommend this. PatH
