Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of taking on a role of Safety Manager in the Gulf (UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar)?

I'd be grateful for any info. I've heard stories of Resident Engineers being arrested following fatalities on sites. I'm not sure about what liabilies I would have.

Have you tried using the "search" facility and, if you can access it, the Members forum?

You need a different kind of mentality [moral & otherwise] and note that getting in trouble outside the UK is completely different to getting in trouble inside the UK; so be prepared

I have worked in places where injuring non nationals was treated VERY DIFFERENTLY to injuring nationals

The good news is that it can be very rewarding as long as you follow the laws /mentality of the country that you are working in and do not try to bring in other standards etc
