Fire Safety in Tower Blocks..what standard to apply.

Posted By jackw. Hi all. Hopefully somone can help. I work in LA. As a result of re-structuiring i now find tower blocks are part of my remit. I have had a look around re fire safety an am about to do a comprehensive fire risk assesment. I noted that there is no integrated system in place. We have 24/7 caretakers on site located in an office. There are smoke detectors in every flat..but these stand alone, no detection in communal areas, bin stores and laundry rooms. The only way staff on site can pick up on a fire is if it becomes visible on one of the security camera spread across the building or if they are notified by the tenant or another tenant by intercoms. I have had a look and can't see exactly what standard applies to the properties re fire safety, smoke detection etc.
Any one got any idea.
Cheers.
