Posted By Jason McQueen Im trying to find info on the document in the title. I only need it for assignment purposes and so unwilling to pay the several hundred pounds purchase price for what I'll use it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good summary, overview or anything of the like?
Thanks.

Posted By Jane Blunt There are two such documents in the BSI database at present. Part 1 is the basic terminology and methodology Part 2 is the technical principles. These are both type 'A' standards and as such are very general standards, stating basic principles. They constitute one way of meeting the european directive 98/37/ec as amended by 98/79/ec. Further free literature on meeting these is to be found on the DTI site: http://www.dti.gov.uk/in...ecdirect/ipsg/index.htmlPart 1 of BS EN ISO 12100 has the following in it (with a few sentences to each). Hazards to take account of: - electric - mechanical -thermal -noise -vibration -radiation -materials and substances -ergonomics -slips, trips and falls -combinations of hazards -the environment and sections on: -strategy for risk reduction -risk estimation and evaluation -elimination of hazards or reduction of risk -achievement of risk reduction objectives. Part 2 goes into some of the technical measures by which these principles can be achieved. Regards Jane

Posted By DRB I'm not sure how much detail you need but the old BS5308:1988 provided excellent practical advice. You may be able to get an old copy of that of Ebay or somewhere for just a few quid.
