we are currently working on a big site and installing HV cables. During the excavation this is obviously by its nature becoming a confined space.

Do to the size of the job I do not want to get into a paper chasing exercise with confined space permits and was wondering if anybody has any experience in forced ventilation so therefore reducing the risk.

Any takers?

Regards.

Rks, can you just elaborate a little? what exactly makes this a confined space? the reason I ask is: I work in construction and many contractors say they are working in confined space, yet they are not (in the true definition) yes you must have control measures to deal with emergencies etc and like you said above permits may not be necessary, just a suitable and sufficient risk assessment and a very good method statement. I think we need more information to give you the best advice.

Regards
Steve
