Having read the carriage of dangerous goods I have to confess to being none the wiser so I'm after any wise words from the great and good out there.

We have diesel bowsers to supply our own plant when on site. To get them to and from site they are transported empty on the back of a flat bed. Does this come under the regs requiring driver training, vehicle signs etc?

Would I be right in thinking that because these bowsers are incidental to our primary business (civil engineering) that we don't need a DGSA?

Any words of wisdom gratefully received.

I used to be a DGSA but I am better now.......

My understanding is that Dangerous goods containers such as Tanker barrels which are EMPTY and UNCLEANED have to be transported in the same way as full ones ie Hazchem panels, TREM cards, Driver ADR trained etc.

However, if they are empty and cleaned then ADR (and Carriage regs) don't apply.

You should really check with an up to date DGSA.

Hope this helps.
