Posted By leethorne Could any member advise of any specific guidance on health and safety considerations within bowling alleys, or previous experience of safety management within such facilities?
Any advice would be gratefully recieved.

Posted By leethorne The enquiry is related to a health and safety audit on behalf of new owners of a recently purchased bowling alley. The standard issues will be relatively straight forward (policies and procedures, risk assessments, training, physical signage and control measures). I was wondering if there is any guidance or assistance available on specifics.

Posted By CFT I did one of these some years ago, and at that time I was not aware of dedicated guidance for TPB centres. Serious issues are few and far between, there was however a tragic case recently (link below) which necessitated investigation by the HSE; it is an area that is worthy of intense consideration to ensure training and procedures are followed religiously. A ball entering the mechanism whilst being worked on can trigger a potential threat to the worker even when the kit is isolated. I remember identifying many areas of concern whilst visiting these establishments, often the very basics were overlooked and I mean the basics; if you ensure you work through everything with a systematic procedure I don't really feel you will struggle to find plenty to improve upon. http://www.lse.co.uk/Sho...n_bowling_machine_horrorAll the best CFT
