We operate a number of blocks of flats of various sizes, and occasionally encounter a problem with a fire panel. This can trigger a response from our monitoring service who call the fire brigade who used to re set the panel. We would investigate and take necessary action. Recently we have been advised that they will no longer re-set and aren't happy with allowing a trained resident to do so. We have produced systems which say we can get an employee day or night to the scene within 30 minutes, which given our dispersion in the london and the south east i think is reasonable. I can understand concerns by the fire service as they won't leave a call until the panel is re-set, so they say half an hour is too long to tie up a fire officer waiting for our arival, what happened to reasonable practicability?.
Is anyone else having issues like this with the brigades. fair also to say that we work across several counties, and the application of the FSO seems to differ.

Why are they saying that a tennent is not suitable? If you have trained the tennent how can they say they are not suitable? It's your decision as the building owner and the legally responsible person to ensure that they are trained in the operation of the alarm system and as long as they are competent it is nothing to do with the fire brigade.

Agreed, it does seem though that interpretation of FSO does seem to vary force by force,
