Posted By Matthew Joyes Good afternoon,
I have been tasked with putting together a risk assessment awareness session for operational managers looking specifically at crowd control (within a large enclosed building, accessed by high numbers of the public).
Can anyone give me any thoughts, advice or sources of further reference, etc.
Many thanks,
MCJ

Posted By Andrew Brown You don't say what the public space is used for but you may find some of this entertainment guidance is directly or indirectly useful. The Event Safety Guide - A guide to health, safety and welfare at music and similar events (HSE 1999) ("The Purple Book") ISBN 0 7176 2453 6 Guide to Fire Precautions in existing places of entertainment and like premises (The Stationery Office) ("The Primrose Guide") Managing Crowds Safely (HSE 2000) ISBN 0 7176 1834 X The Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds (The Stationery Office 1997) ("The Green Guide") ISBN 0 11 300095 2 Guide to Fire Precautions in existing places of Entertainment - The Yellow Guide I worked in this area for a while and experience counts for a lot in public safety, so if you are in the market for consultants you may also want to contact: Capita Symonds have an event safety team with a lot of experience in crowd management, contact Richard Limb http://www.capitasymonds...ement/services.asp?id=91 Or they also own part of crowd dynamics http://www.crowddynamics.com/index.htmHope that helps
