Posted By The toecap I can't find anything but, it would remove any doubt and would form part of the risk assessment to state that the after the escape phase persons must assenble at the assembly point as indiated in the car park next to the gate as indicted.Or something similar.

Posted By J Knight No, but in some circumstances your risk assessment might indicate that you should; if you have a lot of members of the public or other visitors in your premises for example, John

Posted By Tabs "It is a requirement of the RR(FS)O." Where? I was of the opinion that it is not a requirement, and not always possible ... I don't want my neighbour's businesses putting signs up all over my building, thank you.

Posted By Heather Collins It is NOT a specific requirement of the RR(FS)O. I know it's the stock answer but your fire safety risk assessment will determine whether you need a sign or not. All people in the premises likely to be employed there and able to undergo training beforehand in what to do during an evacuation? Clear signs inside the premises indicating where the assembly area is? Assembly area in a blindingly obvious and clearly recognisable place? Sign not needed. Members of the public likely to be involved in any evacuation? Possibility of confusing where the assembly area is? Signs needed.

Posted By Julian Wilkinson whether its a requirement or not (which it isn't) to put up signs indicating that its a fire assembly point, its not always possible. For instance at our site we have to use a public area so its not possible to put a sign up. In fact we have 3 designated assembly points depending on circumstances i.e bomb threat etc. The important thing is to have your fire assembly point clearly shown on your fire action notices.
