Posted By Aggi Katniak Hi
I was told we have to display a fire action notice by each fire alarm call point. Could someone please tell me where to find this requirement in UK legislation?
Thank you. Aggi Katniak

Posted By Julian Wilkinson Not sure where it says specifically, but common sense tells you; where you raise the alarm is where you should also have instructions on what to do

Posted By Aggi Katniak Sorry to be so persistent but there is nothing explicit about Fire Action Notice in the Order. I don't say we shouldn't be doing it, what I am trying to establish is whether it is a good practice or a strict legal requirement. Maybe we can instruct other people in a different way?
Thanks for your input. Aggi

There is not a strict legal requirement to display a fire action notice at each alarm call point - the new legislation moves us away from a prescriptive fire safety regime. However those in the building need to be given information on what to do in event of fire. You need to consider not only your staff but any visitors who might not be accompanied by a member of staff. You are free to decide how you do this. A fire action notice is just one option. You are also free to decide how many notices (if any) you display and where they are located.
What ever method you choose to provide the information, you should satisfy yourself that it is effective. Fire service officers carrying out inspections usually expect to see fire action notices (but not one any every call point). If you choose not to display them, be ready to explain your alternative arrangements.
