Posted By holmezy cOLIN,
Have you had sufficient experience, knowledge and training in being pregnant?
Sorry to be so glib, I'm sure that someone on here will supply you with a RA that you could adapt?

Posted By David Bannister Colin, competency in this instance relates to the ability to recognise all the hazards, how they may harm the mother/baby, the likelihood of harm and to be able to develop and implement appropriate controls.
You will hopefully know whether you are sufficiently competent to assess the risks in the pregnant woman's working environment.
In any event, competency (not necessarily paper qualifications) is a basic requirement to be able to carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment, so... yes, you do need to be competent!

Posted By Descarte if the person involved in chemical handling I would assume you need to be competant in COSHH and more
if the person is involved in manual handling then I would assume you need to be competant in manual handling and more
if the person is just working in a office environment using DSE then I assume you would need to be competant in DSE assessment and more
all would require some basic knowledge / competancy in the RA process as well and some medical knowledge of the associated risks and problems expected and how to mitigated

Posted By Les Welling A person shall be regarded as competent where they have sufficient training and experience or knowledge and other qualities to properly undertake the task. Whilst this is not the exact wording it's near enough. Also see "The Management of Health & Safety at Work Regs 1999 Reg 7.
Very glib but hope this helps

Posted By Kevinkerin Colin yes you should be competent but remember that you can write this assessment and get someone else to check it for you such as your company safety officer. The HSE gives plenty of guidance on this subject and the detailed points you should consider.
