Good article in my local paper tonight [2 page spread] -

http://www.northamptonch...-sense-of-fun.3155829.jp

The article also included some 'H&S Myths', such as 'stepladders are banned'.

Hopefully we will see more of these 'balanced' articles in the future

Yep, worked for me too - and what an excellent article. Well done to everyone involved in getting this one in the paper.

Got it !

Yes excellent article. I particular liked the frequent references to "H&S is for enabling, not for banning" (paraphrasing a bit)

Thanks for starting this thread Alan.

It's a great article, and hopefully more like this will follow in the lead up to the Championships.

Keep your eyes on the homepage of this site for more information about what we're doing at the event.

Yes I agree an excellent article and good publicity for a change.

Now dare I say that I just hope nobody gets hurt taking part in an activity sponsored by IOSH?

Just like earlier responders I think the newspaper article was a good one. However, I get the impression from elsewhere that there remains some confusion among some people, including people running schools, as to whether or not the activity of playing conkers is banned outright, and by whom, in some schools and/or can only be played and watched if goggles are worn.

One responder mentioned their hope that nobody gets hurt by an IOSH sponsored event. Was this question for real, in jest or somewhere in between? To avoid deviating from the theme of this thread, could readers answer this question by looking at and responding to my thread of 20 August about the validity of the "conkers bonkers" expression? As I've just added to it, it should be easy to find on the top page at present.
