Posted By Lilian McCartney I do a quarterly update on our intranet and pick a subject relevant to the time of year.
In spring, I had a lamb frolicking and put in a bit about H&S frolicks, for summer it was sun exposure, autumn slips etc, winter decoration hanging etc etc
I try to make them a bit funny to make them readable.
Previously we had a word search which left a H&S phrase and there was a prize for this. We've had crosswords as well which are simple H&S answers.

Posted By Karen Wilson I produce six monthly newsletters (usually to coincide with changes in legislation). Two are on my website under "news" and then the month (at left hand side margin). Takes a fair bit of work to prepare these I am afraid. You may find monthly letters ehausting! https://www.ks-safety.comKaren

Posted By Merv Newman I usually recommend mixing/alternating "on-the-job" safety with"off-the-job"
For example : where is the most dangerous chemical a "non-chemical" worker will ever encounter ?
Answer: under the kitchen sink.
And do you, or your wife, wear safety glasses and gloves when applying drain-unblocker ?
I've also done some on food hygiene. Did you know that your 'fridge is upside-down ?
Salads go in the bottom drawer, then dairy products, then the raw chicken for Sunday dinner.
This ensures that the juices from the chicken can run over the cheese and yogurt and then into the salad.
And do you actually sterilise your hands after going to the toilet ? Or do you just use soap ?
Have a nice day
Merv
And don't forget that the egg tray is impregnated with salmonella.

Posted By Crim I do like Merv's suggestion but wouldn't worry too much about potential outcomes as we all gain certain immunity as we go through life. An organised fridge however is a must especially if its shared between employees.
Lilian's method is one I used some years ago looking at topical seasonal hazards, i.e. "Christmas presents special hazards!" etc. with the tree, lights, work at heights etc, and "Summer sunburn cover up if working outside". I also looked at the recent accidents and highlighted probable causes and avoidances.
Word searches with prizes are also good to get the staff talking about safety.

Posted By Merv Newman Kevin,
would you like to send me a copy ? I do critique news letters as part of safety audits.
I like four-colour print with informal photos, and "success" stories. But you have to put the stats in somewhere. Hate black-on-white photocopies and everyone-in-a-line photos.
