Posted By songwriter Hi all, i am trying to help my local football club (which is semi professional)and they are rebuilding after some err...bad people ran the club. does anyone have a basic risk assessment check list for a football club, i.e. the bar area, the changing rooms, the stands etc. i am volunteering my services to help get them on their feet, where do i stand legally if something goes wrong? thanks for any help.

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Whether you provide advice for free or for money, you can be held liable if something goes wrong so you could be standing in the dock. You can't get insurance against criminal sanctions, of course, but you should have adequate professional indemnity cover.

Don't forget the pitches themselves. On our site we get our FM department to check our sports pitches twice a month by walking over them, by our grounds team when they cut the grass and by the match officials prior to each game.

Posted By Raymond Rapp I suggest that in order to get around the issue of insurance liabaility you consider offering your services for free and not to put your name to any documentation. I have done this in the past for my own golf club.
Normal hazards would apply in terms of employee/contractor/public risk assessments. Use of machinery, maintenance of plant and equipment etc. I have some documentation for golf clubs which is similar to a football club if you email me direct.
