I am an ex-shift supervisor now currently unemployed and feel I need the NEBOSH gen cert to get back into industry. Money's a bit tight. Does anyone know of any way to fund a course or a way to do it cheaply? any ideas welcome. Thanks in advance

Hi john?

Funding can come from a variety of sources but much depends on the length of time you have been unemployed and where you are in the country? If you are signing on at Job Centre Plus, your advisor has discretionary money they can release for training. Probably only £100.00 but a start. You can also get £200.00 through your Individual learning account look at ilascotland.org.uk

Speak to your Local Enterprise Company they will also have a wee pot of money for training to get people back to work.

i realise training is expensive but there are ways and means for unemployed to get assistance

regards

Kenny

After extensive research a few [~3] years ago re courses that I was facilitating I found that you could get funding/support etc for hundreds of courses from cake making to hairdressing from iT to plumbing; via the government and other sources. However nothing was available for any H&Safety areas

All the best

NB: If the only reason that you want to take a H&S course/qualification is to get into work I would question your real commitment as if it is not 'real' any H&S course that you take will not really benefit you as person

Hiya

I do have my finger on the pulse of some funding, but it is post code based. Message me to chat.

If you do it through a college then they will be able to advise on funding if you are unemployed. Worth remembering that they get funding for registering candidates and successful completion. See the Learning Skills Council website (LSC) for information...

Local adult education centres not only do the courses cheap but will able to offer funding, I did mine at a cost of around £200 however this was not block release and was over the course of a year if you can wait that long
