Posted By Alan Walkinshaw I am looking for some guidance on disaster recovery best practice applicable to a manufacturing/office/warehouse environment.
Can anyone recommend where to look for real examples of how to plan and mitigate the business risks related to utility failure, extreme weather, major fire, major incidents and serious business disruption for a major inductrial activity.
The scope of operations i am involved in is 200,000 sq ft site with 500 employees involved in manaufacturing, office activity and supply and distribution across Europe. On site there is a Europe wide data centre supporting 2-3000 staff across europe.
Any help appreciated.

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Alan, Have you got a copy of BS 25999 yet? It won't explicitly tell you "how to" as that will be business specific based on many factors, but it should give you some pointers. It's available directly from the BSI for £90 + VAT or possibly from your local library. Your LA may also be able to help you source this information. Also, look at "Expecting the Unexpected - Business continuity in an uncertain world" which can be downloaded from here: http://www.ukresilience....ce.info/london_first.pdfFinally you could search previous threads to see if there are any useful links. Sorry I don't have stuff specific to the workplace you describe, but if I come across anything useful while searching for my organisation, I'll post it.

You may like to try your local (Shire or Unitary) Council civil contingencies planning teams for some guidance.
