Posted By Karen Wilson I have an architect colleague who may be able to assist you with this. He specialised in disability access design. Although now retired he keeps his finger on the pulse and I can contact him if you have not found informaiton elsewhere.

Posted By Son of SkyWalker Hi Karen
Thanks for the response. I am still trying to track down this information. Fire safety officers are giving a sort of "grey area" response which doesn't help.
I would appreciate any help you could offer.

Posted By Karen Wilson Hi there. I have just telephoned my colleague for you. The minimum temporary waiting area should be 1.0m x 1.0m square but preferably 1.5m x 1.5m and a minimum of 1.0m distance from any stairwell or corridor.
i.e. - if you have a stairwell 1.0m square - then your tmporary waiting area must be a further distance away of at least another 1.0 sqm.
Give me a call if you need further clarification.
Karen
