Posted By D Could someone please advice and assist. We have an arch door that is in place and leading onto an escape route. We have been told we need a self-closing device fitted. Do any of you know if there is such a device on the market, if so where do we purchase one. Help and assistance will be appreciated.

Posted By Chris Pope Floor springs might do this, bit expesive though. Try Dorma as a manufacturer and go to an architectural ironmonger in your area for advice

Posted By Andy Man We use 'Dorguard' - £129 (from Seton or other suppliers). They are self-contained units which listen out for the sound of a continuous alarm, whereupon they activate and release the door.
These might not be suited to noisy environments, in which case you can get radio-controlled models (need to be linked in to the alarm system itself).

Posted By Geoff Ferneyhough The doors at home have an internal chain type door closer that fits within the door and frame.
So this type of device would suit an Arch door.
You should be able to get them through a reputable door company.

Posted By shaun mckeever I assume by Arch door that it is arch shaped. If I am correct who told you need a self-closer on it? My second assumption is that you have been told to put it on because it is supposedly a fire door. If this is the case then it is unlikely that it is a fire door. Arch shaped doors are not normally fire doors and as far as I am aware have not passed any test as a fire door.
