Pretty specialised nowadays Frances. Try alternate search for 'skidsteer' Bobcat, like Komatsu is a brand.
Principal issues are sudden jolts due to hitting hole, exposed re-bar etc when scraping storage areas and pens. Getting in and out of cab area for the 'less than fit' pedestrian safety in relation to very sudden and sharp turning, injury from impact when bucket raised and moving at speed (bit fly off into the driver's area and general horseplay due to lack of key control. I have driven one many times and they are great fun - and that's the point. Everyone wants a go on them. They usually incur horrific levels of damage to hydraulics and bodywork. They can also be very noisy. Check figures in relation to hearing protection.

Hope you're settling in. Don't forget my offer.

Francis:

Sorry I can't help with a document. However.. I have seen 'Bobcats' (and others) used in waste plant to move/segregate rubbish on the reception floor, and as construction plant when railway level crossing units had to be lifted and re-laid.

Uniformly, the biggest single challenge has been to persuade the managers and the operatives of the dangers inherent in having plant and pedestrians working in (sometimes frighteningly) close proximity. The problem is that the driver is sitting very close to his pedestrian colleagues and somehow perceives himself to be one of them - with potentially fatal consequences if a lever or pedal is used inadvisedly.

Any proper system of work must effectively segregate mechanical plant from pedestrians - and Bobcats (other brands are available...) are no exception.

Good luck with your preparation of a safe system etc.
