Not having a copy is it BS 5839 that specifies the periods between Fire alarm testing?

Remember regulation, BS etc. are min standards. We a LA check these on a weekly basis in all our properties, offices, schools day care, residential care etc. You will find that your local fire service guidelines/advice will in most cases be weekly checks. don't forget to record these
