ACMs have a nasty habit of turning up in strange places including domestic situations. With this in mind does anyone have any specific experience in relation to loft conversions and whether its been a problem?
Thanks RJ

I think a simple answer has to be yes.
Past experience of asbestos surveys (especially 'public' housing stock, MOD etc.)would indicate possible presence of ACM in the following forms e.g. loose thermal insulation, pipe / vessel insulation, insulating board, cement tanks and flues and/or debris and residues from unsatisfactory removal of the above.
It can depend on the age of the building, but that's not a conclusive indicator of ACM use as any prohibitions on use of asbestos may have been circumvented by a well-intentioned householder.
I'd have to recommend you get specific advice, the cost of a competent surveyor shouldn't be too restrictive, especially when set against the implications of getting it wrong.

You may also find asbestos in small quantities within some of the sarking. Think also about the roof tiles. If the property was built between 1940 - 1970, then there is a high probability of all the other materials mentioned in the previous thread also being present.
