Posted By jom Colin,
I am not an IOSH member.
Could the thread be copied into the public area please?

Posted By IOSH Moderator It would not be appropriate to move the thread mentioned from the Members' forum into the public forums.
I will alert the IOSH staff to your question about Stockline.

Posted By jom Thankyou Jane.
Surely enough time has passed for IOSH to have formed a view on the desirability of a public inquiry.
Has IOSH made a public statement on that?
John.

Posted By jom I asked the same question in this forum almost a month ago. No answer.
Stockline was a single industrial accident that took nine lives.
IOSH's view should have already been been formed and made public. If not, then why does IOSH exist?
John.

Posted By IOSH Moderator It is less than two hours since you posted the question here. It is less than an hour since I alerted HQ to your question and it was lunchtime.
We do not know which staff are on hand at IOSH today. I may have e-mailed it to someone who is away.
I am sure you will get your reply some time soon.

Posted By jom Jonathon,
I already looked at the "about IOSH" bit to ensure this matter is in IOSH's domain.
As I read the statement, I think it is within IOSH's domain to take an active role in influencing government and informing the workforce.
Please tell me if I'm wrong.
I think it is not good for IOSH to not have a public position on the desirability of a public inquiry into such a bad accident.
IOSH should have been capable of forming that position much earlier than today.
John.

Posted By Tarquin Farquor jom,
Why not ring IOSH direct and ask to speak to the most appropriate person whom could deal with your enquiry.

Posted By jom Jane,
Thanks for your response.
I hope there is an answer this time around.
I hope IOSH has an opportunity to influence the terms of reference of any inquiry.
John.

Posted By jom Tarquin,
Good tip.
But this is a public matter and I think IOSH should be public in its stance.
If there was another body concerned with occupational safety in the UK...
John.
