Should a chop saw for cutting uni-strut, pipe, etc. be bench mounted or are they designed for use on the floor.

My argument is that the extended use of above while sitting on floor is far more detrimental to health than any hazards posed by a bench mounted saw.

Please back me up.

If you are using chop saws for 'extended' periods then your process is incorrect and it will be detrimental to the health of the operator. reassess the task including the process.
