Posted By safetyq Hi All,
Would anyone have any basic racking safety rules that could be used in a sign to be placed on racking?
All info appreciated.

Posted By Andrew J. Boyle I too am looking into the same thing. We have a RS Channel based design with 2 pieces of channel acting as forks, supported by more RS Channel.
2 years ago it was tested somehow (before I started at the company) and it was recorded that each bay has a SWL of 250Kg for the small bays, and SWL of 500Kg for the larger bays.
All we have done is paint on each bay:
L1 SWL250Kg L2 SWL250Kg L3 SWL500Kg L4 SWL500Kg
for example, L=Left and obviously on the right
R1-xxx R2-xxx R3-xxx R4-xxx
The bays are four high and by using a unique identifier for each bay, that can be recorded in case of problem/fault or the bay is damaged by, say being hit by a FLT.
Is the marking we have acceptable, and help for myself or the original question posed by 'safetyq' would be gratefully received.

Posted By Ron Hunter I suggest that training, and involving all your people in frequent formal in-house inspections, would be more educational than a sticker or poster. sema.org.uk have some useful publications. You could I suppose translate the items on their checklists into a "do's and dont's" poster.
