Hello all,

I am currently looking for some advice on any courses that may help me to train to get a poition in Dubai?

Is there a Health and Safety Law course that would get me up to scratch with what goes on over there?

Does any one have any information that they could give me with regards to how it all works over there?

Do they hire Consultants?

Is there room for more H&S Consultants in Dubai?

Many thanks in advance

Gerry,

Hopefully the following will answer some of your questions.

1. The only mandatory course on H&S law for people to attend in Dubai is for safety professionals working within Dubai World or NAKHEEL Developments. This 2 day course run by NAKHEEL is free of charge to attendees and a legal requirement for registration.

2. As for consultants operating in Dubai, its a case of if your good you survive, if not it can end very quickly. The main problem with consultants coming from the UK or other countries outside of the region is they normally do not have the local knowledge or experience of working practices and this can sometimes result in unrealistic recommendations by consultants.

3. Tip, when we say H&S consultants over here in Dubai we expect management consultants and not training organisations who call themselves H&S Consultants.

4. As for work its just like any other major city. But if a consultant does not perform to acceptable standards contracts can be cancelled very quickly and in some cases with just a few hours notice.

If you need any further info please contact me as we are using consultants on our developments and are always looking for any good consultants to support us in our operations.

Wayne
