Following a visit to one of my clients the HSE inspector has asked if there has been any effort undertaken to use a less hazardous product than Hydrofluoric Acid at 1% concentration.

Following an exhaustive search this afternoon where I ate 3 chocolate cookies and a coffee I found nothing on Google. Is anyone aware of any product that will do a suitable job but wont have any nasty side effects?

It sounds like you have been lucky as not only is it a really nasty product as it decalsifies the system.

HF also attacks glass, so it seams you have been very lucky, can you not just use a medium pressure water cleaning system.

There is a natural orange (acidic) cleaner that came out a few years ago, (probably several now), when I had my own company we had several contracts with botanical connections, this product was used on all glass houses, it is completely biodegradable and environmentally kind, one can drink a small quantity without feeling poorly. It has excellent cleansing properties and I never had any issues with it.

Why don't you try Jeyes Fluid if it is external. They do a spray type window cleaner. Watch the Bill tommorrow night on ITV where they advertise the product sometime.
