A recent case of an operative receiving an 'electric' shock whilst using a CO2 fire extinguisher prompted some enquiries. It appears that the supplier of the extinguisher has known about the problem of static electricity and advises that the nozzle should not be held when discharging the extinguisher. All well and good, but the plastic nozzle has a handle on it!!!!!

Anyone else had a problem with these type of fire extinguishers?

Regards

Ray

There have also been reports of temperature issues, insulated horns are available which solve both problems

Static build up on larger CO2 extinguishers has always been a problem. It has been known for the static build up to cause problems in flammable vapour environments overseas.

Your not supposed to hold the nozzle of a CO2 when discharging as there is a risk of cold burn.
