Anybody been through the new government pay re-evaluation scheme for councils [e.g. the principal being is that people get the same pay for the same job i.e. ensuring equal pay for males and females etc]?
I am lead to believe that there are a great many losers, especially H&Safety, and no real task analysis nor job evaluation is undertaken
HR, emergency planners, marketing and environmental advisers appear to be doing very well and there some front line supervisors have had their pay dramatically improved
Comments welcome!

Posted By Bob Baynes Bob, search the forums for job evaluation, you still need to filter out the irrelevant responses but may be of some interest. Good luck.

Posted By Derek Singleton Bob, Much depends on the format of the review as there are three or so different systems. I work for a unitary authority in the south west that is using the London Boroughs model.
I am just taking a break from filling in my questionnaire (40 pages) for my own evaluation.
There will also be an interview to follow that can go on for several hours.
Much depends on the emphasis that is placed on the varied factors, such as the level of decision making and its impact.
I have not completed mine yet but as I see it H&S should do fairly well. On the basis that we must be trained, experienced and have a qualification. The decisions we make will have a major impact on the Authority as the wrong decision or procedure could cause death or injury resulting in a prosecution and loss of reputation. I think it is important to do as much research as possible to ascertain what emphasis is placed in individual factors and then to concentrate on those.
Good Luck
Derek

I think what you may be referring to is "single status". If you do a Google search on the subject you will find plenty to put you to sleep!
